212 Degrees – turn up the heat

06.29.2010 · Posted in Business

The Concept of 212 Degrees — one tiny degree between 211 and 212 degrees, but it makes all the difference in the world. Just like it is in life and business, the difference between running with the pack and leading the pack is that small extra degree of effort, focus, determination.

Maybe I wasn’t making myself clear. I believe in working hard and bettering myself. What I don’t believe in is running myself ragged because of some “yippie-skippie” motivational vid while the big wigs don’t keep up their end of the bargain.

okay you can say this but i know this video has been used in high schools across the country to inspire their leadership programs to help the students to work at becoming leaders congrats on being promoted if you didnt deserve it you wouldnt of got but if your not doing any extra work or effort maybe the rest of the poeple were lazy or you were lucky

This is the video they show you RIGHT BEFORE they downsize you or “restructure” your commission sale. I actually was the top performer in my department — until I got promoted. I got there PRECISELY by doing what I had ALWAYS been doing, ending the shift with a clean conscience.

I don’t believe in getting something for nothing, but I better get paid for my effort.

But if you like, “Be happy in your work.”

  13. Wow, been downsized lately? I actually find it very inspiring. I am clear that when I am the top performer in my department, it has everything to do with taking the extra effort, not by doing what I’ve always done.

  14. ProfessorZaroff says:

Don’t buy into that lie. It’s the kind of video they show you just before they “restructure” your commission base, and start talking about “rightsizing.” It’s corporate speak for “bend over now.”
